Our History

At Kamptown RV Resort, we bring family and friends together to create a memorable camping experience. Founded in 1972, Kamptown has grown along the shores of Lake Barkley’s Little River Bay and now features 93 RV sites.

While many sites are seasonal, we also offer full-hookup RV sites for overnight guests, providing a comfortable, welcoming place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Allen and Julye Harding’s journey with Kamptown began long before they ever owned it. For five years, they spent their weekends here, making memories at the lake with their two daughters, Morgan and Laynee. What started as a favorite getaway quickly became something more — a place that felt like home, a place where family time, laughter, and lake life all came together.

In 2006, the opportunity came to purchase the park, and the Hardings knew it was where they were meant to be. Since then, they have worked to preserve the welcoming, family-first atmosphere that first made them fall in love with Kamptown. You’ll still find them enjoying the same lake life they cherish, only now they have the privilege of sharing it with every guest who visits.

Over the years, their family — and their Kamptown family — has grown. Today, that story includes Mike (Morgan) and Evan (Laynee), along with their grandson, Maverick. For the Hardings, Kamptown has never been just a business. It’s a legacy, a gathering place, and a backdrop for memories that span generations — with many more still to come.
